HUNGER V THIRST

A - 365
School makes you hungry.  Your packed lunch is bigger than the lunch you would have at home and then, despite of the fact that we eat dinner only about an hour and a half after we get back from school, you have taken to having a little snack I between.  Thankfully school also makes you thirsty too, thirsty for knowledge and we are all trying our best to keep you well hydrated..

FANCY A DRINK?

Teeny - 365

SO PROUD

A - 365
D - 365
Bless the three of us so proud of your achievements at school; A of your pink star, D of your Angry Bird's writing and colouring and me of how hard you two are trying at school.

PROFILE

A - 365
D - 365
I find you two being at school emotionally exhausting, you two, on the other hand, find it physically exhausting.  Three minutes after Daddy put you to bed I came in to give you a quick kiss and this is how I found you.

DADDY SNUGGLES

Teeny - 365
I can't even begin to describe how much you love this man; it is off the scale.

FIRST DAY AT SCHOOL

A - 365
D - 365
How did this happen?  How did you two get old enough to go to school?  In spite of the fact that you have both, at times, driven me mad over the summer break I am just not ready for this moment; this day has come around far too quickly for me.  Today was hard, but I know that I will be feeling it so much more tomorrow when I am not at work and have too much time on my hands.

MIND READING

Teeny - 365
"Oh no it's all over my face mommy" he says as he holds his head in his hand.  "It should actually be in my belly."

Ok, so you are too young to have said all of that, but I know that is exactly what you are thinking.

I FORGOT (AGAIN!)

A - 365
D - 365
Today was yet another day when I didn't get round to taking photographs during your waking hours.

Now that  I am working 31 hours per week, more than half of those hours during the evening, (and you will be at school all day from tomorrow) I am finding this 365 project more challenging than ever.  The photos are nowhere near the standard I had hoped they would be by now and I just don't seem to be able to find the time I had wanted to play with and practice photography and teach myself more.  My standards for this project have lowered dramatically over the months and now managing to a blog a photo of each of you more than a few times per week and to take any kind of photograph using anything that takes a photograph at some point before midnight each day feels like a massive achievement.  We will, however, discretely gloss over the masses of photographs that I have on the laptop that I haven't even found the time to blog yet!

Anyhow...onwards and upwards!

BRUSHING UP

Teeny - 365
Despite the fact that that you have lots of toys to play with this is how I found you this morning; trying to sweep up with my grotty old dustpan and brush.

CATCHING UP

A - 365

D - 365
Now that the four of you are getting older and having to spend more time at school/nursery you will not be getting to see each other as much as you would like so while your daddies were playing with their toys out riding their motorbikes today the four of you (not to mention us mommies and your little brothers) got to have a lovely catch up.  The fun didn't stop there though; when the daddies came home we all had a lovely dinner together.  I really couldn't think of a better way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

UNCHARTERED TERRITORY

Teeny - 365
We are down to around one booby (or booba as you call it) per day now; usually at bedtime on the four evenings I don't work and mid morning on the days I do my evening hours.  It is extremely rare for you to fall asleep at the breast at bedtime now though and on the odd occasion that you do, like today, I wonder whether it will be the last and it sends me on a train of thought about where our breastfeeding journey is heading.

I am well and truly into uncharted territory now you see; by the time your brother and sister hit 15 months they really weren't very interested in feeding from me anymore and, if I am honest, probably hadn't been for a while.  I am so thankful that our breastfeeding journey is still going and I think I would quite like it if you and I could get to your second birthday, but I am not sure how I feel personally about anything beyond that.  I am not at all against "extended" feeding (I do hate that phrase though, why is It extended and not just normal?), but our breastfeeding experiences are very personal to us and as happy and unphased as I am by seeing somebody feeding a child beyond their second year I just don't know I would feel about actually doing it myself.

We shall just have to wait and see where this road takes us I suppose.

LIBRARY OF BIRMINGHAM

A - 365
D - 365
I was very jealous of you both today; I have been desperate to go to our new library since it opened and guess what, while I was at work and Teeny was at nursery, you two had a cheeky trip into town on the train with Daddy and pipped me to the post.  Will you take me next time please?

CONTEMPLATING

WARRIOR

D - 365

REGRESSING

A - 365
D had this trike for his second Christmas, so he was a little over one year old.  It is now Teeny's, although you wouldn't think it to look at our (almost)  five year old daughter in it today.  Riding around on this trike, being pushed around by her twin brother, had her fits of giggles.

MAGNETS

Teeny - 365
Who'd have thought you would be quite so engrossed in a few Peppa Pig magnets on a radiator (which is not on I might add)?

SPIDER D

D - 365
I'm not sure how or why your love of Spiderman came about, but it seems to me that it is here to stay, at least for a while anyway.  Love you my little superhero.

LIGHTNING MCQUEEN......

A - 365
......plays harmonica whilst busting a groove!

SHE PUSHES ME

Teeny - 365
Today, for the first time, you tried out your brother's hand me down Smart Trike and this is your reaction, made all the more sweet by the fact that it was your sister who insisted on pushing you around on it. I am sure I wouldn't have got quite this reaction!

WHIZZING AROUND

D - 365
This scooter was probably one of the best £15 we have ever spent.  Of all of the scooters you could have had we chose this because it was Spiderman and you had developed (and still have) a love of Spiderman.  I have to admit to thinking that we would be lucky if it lasted all of five minutes, but you have had it almost a year; it has been used ALOT and is still going strong and whizzing around on these bits of plastic and metal is guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

MAAAAAAAAAHM (MOM)

A - 365
By the way you were shouting me anybody would think I had left you and your brother for hours a million miles away from home when actually I left you for two minutes on the drive to take my bags and your brother into the house.

TICKLISH BOY

MY INCREDIBLE HULK

D - 365
I don't usually work on Saturdays, but today was different; it was the fourth birthday of The You+ Shop which is where I am based for my day job.  It was a community event so Daddy brought you and your brother and sister to join us for the last hour and while you were here you had smoothies, birthday cake and of course you had your face painted as none other than The Hulk, obvious choice really because after all he is GREEN!

THE HIGHCHAIR

A - 365
Some days you will just not sit still or straight at the dinner table no matter how many times we ask you to and then end up spilling dinner all down yourself.  We often joke that we will put you in Teeny's highchair so today, just for fun and much to your amusement, we did.  Here you are trying to keep a straight face.

HAIR CUT

Teeny - 365
Normally jobs such as first haircuts would fall to me, but when you are tired or upset you tend to pull out your hair and eat it so I asked Daddy to take you to have your haircut while I was at work this afternoon in an attempt to distract you from it.  Here is the result; my baby is all grown up.

STORY TIME

A - 365
D - 365
I love the fact that on evenings like tonight, when I am not working, I get to snuggle up and read stories with you both.

BOOK LOVER

Teeny - 365
This morning I left you playing in your cot while I got myself ready and this is how I found you when I returned not too long after; fast asleep still with book in hand.

TRYING THEM OUT FOR SIZE

A - 365
D - 365
Today we went and met with your teachers in preparation for when you two start school in a couple of weeks.  While we were there we bought book bags and jumpers with the school logo on and of course you were both so excited to try them out when you got home.

WINDING DOWN

D - 365
Check out my lovely big boy; snuggled into Daddy listening to his bedtime story.  I love to watch them from a distance.

SAY CHEESE

A - 365
I love kids' imagination.  This is a remote for a little car, but she would have you believe otherwise.

I feel so sad.

LOSE YOURSELF

You love to dance and sing and today was no different.  I love how one song can make you completely lose yourself.

AGAINST THE WINDOW

Teeny - 365
Hiya Mama.

SUPERHERO MASH UP

D - 365
Look how proud you are to have managed to get Spiderman and The Hulk riding your Ben 10 bike.

CO-SLEEPING AGAIN!

A - 365
So who's going to tell this spirited young lady that you shouldn't co-sleep?  It's not even a real baby and look at the almost perfect position she is in.  That baby is going nowhere!
